Consolidated Rent-A-Car (ConRAC) at LAX
Description
The Consolidated Rent-A-Car (ConRAC) facility is one of the major components of LAX’s Landside Access Modernization Program (LAMP). Operational in 2023, it will consolidate rental car operations currently spread across the surrounding area of LAX into one location conveniently located adjacent to the 405 freeway. The ConRAC facility will provide direct connection to LAX’s Automated People Mover (APM) train system. With this direct connection, rental car shuttles will no longer be needed to shuttle customers to and from the Central Terminal Area (CTA), which will result in the elimination of more than 3,200 daily rental car shuttle trips on the surrounding streets and into and out of the CTA. This project features a Quick Turn Around (QTA) area, allowing for the light maintenance of vehicles such as car washing, oil changes and tire rotation. This QTA facility will help alleviate traffic congestion by keeping operations within the footprint of the facility and not out on the city streets.'
TITAN AEC provided consulting services for building information modeling (BIM) to support the contractual owner mandates required by Los Angeles World Airports. TITAN AEC also provided virtual design & construction (VDC) consulting to support the construction coordination efforts of the architect, civil engineer, and general contractor. Our consulting team reviewed the BIM Execution Plan for this project that was a contractual addendum for the architect, consulting engineers, and trade subcontractors on this project. The use of BIM allowed the project team to extend the use of the model data into virtual reality for stakeholder engagement, mixed reality for trade subcontractor validation, and data analytics to validate model health. During the pandemic, TITAN AEC implemented the use of Autodesk Construction Cloud to ensure all project stakeholders can securely collaborate with the building information model (BIM) in the cloud.
