Description
This building was formerly the Bank of Italy located in Downtown Los Angeles.  The Sydell Group acquired the property and converted the structure as part of their NoMad boutique hotel portfolio.  TITAN AEC provided laser scanning and reality capture services and an as-built BIM (building information model) was provided to the general contractor. Through our consulting services, the general contractor discovered critical issues before construction execution.  The virtual design & construction (VDC) processes implemented on this project allowed the general contractor and the owner to avoid costly change orders during construction. TITAN AEC also provided some clash detection services for the trade contractors on this project to ensure the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems were not clashing with the architectural and structural design for this adaptive reuse project.  Virtual reality was also deployed so the project stakeholders can visualize the MEPF systems before installation. Adaptive reuse projects are the foundation of sustainable design.  Many existing buildings have great "bones" that can be redeveloped by any talented architecture firm. Unfortunately, many of these older buildings are not documented which increases risk for the architect, engineering and contractor.  However, the best way to mitigate risk is by using laser scanning and BIM integration on your next project.  Contact us to find out how our consulting team can help you mitigate risk and increase profitability.
